Tal Cohen is a Grammy Award–winning jazz pianist and composer whose music bridges continents, traditions, and emotional landscapes. Born in Israel, raised in Australia, and now based in Miami, Cohen has developed a distinctive voice that blends Middle Eastern and Jewish melodic influences with the harmonic depth and spontaneity of modern jazz.
Widely regarded as one of the most compelling pianists of his generation, he has performed around the world alongside celebrated artists including Terence Blanchard, Joe Lovano, Greg Osby, and Ignacio Berroa. His accolades include winning the prestigious Barry Harris National Piano Competition and receiving the Freedman Fellowship, culminating in a sold-out performance at the Sydney Opera House.
As both a bandleader and collaborator, Cohen’s performances are known for their emotional honesty, technical brilliance, and fearless improvisation. His acclaimed album Gentle Giants earned international recognition, including a four-star review from DownBeat Magazine. Whether on festival stages across Europe, Australia, and the United States or in intimate listening rooms, his music carries a rare balance of virtuosity and humanity — deeply rooted in tradition while constantly searching for new expression.
